Course Overview

This course will provide the essential skills required to work in a Hospital Central Sterile Supply Technician (CSSD). Trainee will learn in detail about the essential skills required to work in a hospital CSSD. Trainee shall be exposed to basics of sterilization, operations and handling of sterilizers, documentation, quality control and sterilization practices. The course shall also interlink and teach coordination of CSSD & Infection control.

The CSSD Technician decontaminates, inspects, assembles and sterilizes instruments and surgical trays. The technician also manages inventory control, orders supplies, inspects, maintains, delivers and retrieves equipment and instruments for the surgery, emergency room and intensive care units. Other topics covered in this program include basic anatomy & physiology.

Learning Objective

Discuss the various functional areas of a typical Central service Department. Identify work hazards and Importance of good communication skills.
Understand the various parts of the body, body systems and how they work identify pathogenic microorganisms and how they affect the body.
Describe levels of disinfections and universal precautions. Discuss the various aspects for the prevention of the transmission of blood borne pathogens.

Learning Outcome

Evaluations and Grading

Evaluations will collate candidate performance based on Self Assessment, Term End Assessment, completion of Project Work , participation in Webinar , participation in student-faculty chat.
Grading will be done based on alphabetical grade point percentage.
