Cardiac Care Nurse

Course Overview

This course will help nurses enhance their knowledge and skills of caring for patients with acute and chronic cardiac conditions affecting adult populations. This course will enable the nurses to build capabilities and competencies required for specific treatment plans on cardiac care which include medical & surgical treatment personalised care planning, health-education and follow-up.

This course is specially aimed at making nurses proficient in the specialized area of cardiac care. Interested nurses can enhance their skills and knowledge by taking this course and make a career for themselves in this discipline. Any nursing graduate or diplomate, registered with a State Nursing Council in India is eligible to take this course.

Eligibility Criteria

  • GNM holding at least 2 years experience
  • B sc Nursing
  • English competency - 40% Marks in 10 + 2
  • Basic computer knowledge -MS Office

Learning Outcome

  • Outline the process of risk stratification and the assessment tools used to risk stratify patients.
  • Recognise the ethnic and racial differences in the prevalence and prognostic impact of cardiovascular disease in different populations.
  • Describe the aetiology, pathophysiology, assessment, and management of cardiovascular disorders and their comorbidities.
  • Explain the indications, physiological effects, nursing care, and complications of cardiovascular therapies including Infection Control Practices
  • Compare and contrast percutaneous intervention and surgical option for the treatment of coronary, valvular, and thoracic aortic disease.
  • Identify the barriers and explain the benefits, phases, and components to a successful cardiac rehabilitation program.
  • Explain the concepts of palliative care, and recommended strategies to improve palliative care for patients with advanced cardiovascular disease.

Evaluations and Grading

  • Evaluations will collate candidate performance based on Self Assessment, Term End Assessment, completion of Project Work , participation in Webinar , participation in student-faculty chat.
  • Grading will be done based on alphabetical grade point percentage.

Certification

At the end of the program the student will be awarded a Certification from Astron Institute of International Studies, Gurgaon.
